KELLEY LOVELACE TO HOST BETHEL COUNTRY CONNECTION

KELLEY LOVELACE AND HIS MISSION FOR KIDS

Kelley Lovelace To Host Bethel Country Connection, Thursday, April 27, 5:45pm.  The Chattanooga Convention Center.  With Special Guests Neil Thrasher, Chris Janson and Chase Bryant.

He’s written songs recorded by Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Kelley Lovelace made us cry with “He Didn’t Have To Be,” and made us laugh out loud with “I’m Still a Guy.”

So why does a successful Nashville country music artist feel called to support Bethel Bible Village?

“I grew up in Hixson, close to Bethel, and I remember riding by and seeing about a dozen bicycles outside those houses, and thinking, ‘I really want to go live there!’” Kelley says with a smile. “But once I learned more about it and realized that those kids had a lot less than I had growing up, I wanted to do something special for them, to show them that somebody cares.”

Something Special

That “something special” has been an extraordinary blessing for the kids at Bethel.

Kelley graciously hosts Bethel’s spring events,  the Country Connection concert at the Chattanooga Convention Center and the Bethel Golf Classic at The Bear Trace in Harrison. Each fall, he hosts an intimate country concert at the Franklin Theatre, called LoveStrong.

All proceeds from these events benefit the kids and families Bethel helps.

That “something special” also led Kelley to – golf lessons!

“Ron Thomas, Bethel’s former Director of Development, called me up and asked me if I would be playing in the golf tournament. And I said I don’t know, I don’t really play golf,” Kelley recalls. “So Ron says, well – can you take some lessons?”

Giving Kids Hope

Fortunately, Kelley is a good sport.  He now plays golf really well, and he is committed to doing whatever it takes to help Bethel’s worthy cause.

“Bethel offers kids more than a home and a school. When kids live there they  learn that God loves them, that He has a positive plan for their lives, and that there are people, like their House Parents, counselors, social workers and teachers, who all care about them who will walk alongside them as they figure it out.”

Kelly and his wife Karen live in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, but they come back to Hixson often, to visit with Kelley’s family. They are a blessing to the kids at Bethel, and we are very grateful for their kindness and caring hearts.
