International Opera Singer Solmaaz Adeli Coming To Chattanooga
Solmaaz Adeli, Opera singer, Recitalist and Concert Soloist, will headline a special night at the First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy this coming Friday night beginning at 6:30pm in a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association of Chattanooga. Also featured will be the Voices of Triumph Gospel Choir led by Marcellus Barnes, the Chattanooga A-capella Singers, tenor Harv Wileman, Heidi Foster, and guitarist Kris Phillips.
Solmaaz’s grandfather, Bill G. Hensley, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away from Alzheimers this past June, and she and the family wanted to do something to honor his memory. The concert is titled “Great Songs You’ll Never Forget” and Solmazz will be performing “Ave Maria”, “Some Children See Him”, “White Christmas” and will lead the audience with “Silent Night” in closing. Tickets are priced at $20 per person, $50 for the whole family, $15 for seniors and students, with children under 12 admitted for free. Tickets include concert + reception + door prize eligibility. Equally at home on the opera stage as well as a soloist on the concert stage, Solmaaz kicks off the new year in 2016 debuting a new work by Grammy Award Winning Barry Phillips with the Santa Cruz Chamber Players, she will give the west coast premiere of Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen’s Requiem together with choir and orchestra ‘Viva la Musica’ in San Mateo, California, and will perform the role of Orfeo in Gluck’s ‘Orfeo ed Euridice’ with the Virtuosi Summer Music Festival in Connecticut.
Solmaaz’s recent highlights have included a performance for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, Asheville Lyric Opera’s Winter Gala, 50th Anniversary commemoration of The Sounds of Music held by the US Embassy of Vienna, the American National Anthem for the US Embassy of Vienna’s Commemoration Ceremony of 9/11 which was broadcasted LIVE on ORF, Austrian National Television, and Austria’s”Licht ins Dunkel” campaign with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestrawhere they recorded White Christmas on ORF television on Christmas Eve, broadcast throughout Austria.
Concert appearances and recitals have taken her to the US Embassy of Vienna, the Palais Belvedere, to perform with the Capella Leopoldina, the British Embassy of Vienna, the Brahms-Saal at the Wiener Musikverein to perform living composer Christopher J. Hoh’s I Breathed a Song, the Vienna State Opera’s Marmorsaal for a concert of Carmen arias, to perform for the patrons of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Solmaaz Adeli gave her European debut as Flora at the Vienna Chamber Opera in Tomaso Albinoni’s Baroque opera Il Nascimento dell’Aurora and debuted the title role in François Pierre Descamp’s new opera Zumurrud and the role of Subaida in Rene Clemncic’s new opera Harun und Djafar in Vienna.
She studied at the Konservatorium für Musik und Dramatische Kunst Wien and attended the Opernschule in Graz as well as master classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
